Objectives of the project:

The European Commission annually receives over 1,000 proposals for projects with European added value in the field of nature and biodiversity, environment, resource efficiency as well as climate action. MWH provides assistance and technical support in order to ensure a fully independent, fair and transparent evaluation process for these proposals submitted under the LIFE annual calls for action grants (all thematic areas) and operating grants for European Environmental NGOs.

Specific tasks for which MWH is responsible, are:

  • Constitution and management of expert groups for each thematic area
  • Evaluation and revision of LIFE action grant proposals in all thematic areas
  • Evaluation and revision of LIFE NGOs’ operating grant proposals
  • Assessment of Integrated Projects and Technical Assistance Proposals

Profile required:

In the context of the evaluation of LIFE proposals contract, MWH Global is looking for the following experts:

  • Environment and Resource Efficiency experts must fulfill the following requirements:
  • A relevant educational background and a proven professional experience of at least 4 years in at least one of the “priority areas of action” covered by this group (see link below for further information).
  • Thorough knowledge of the Regulation concerning the Union policy and legislation in environmental issues.
  • Very good knowledge of the technical state of the art and of the environmental context in countries participating in LIFE.
  • Environmental Governance and Information experts must fulfill the following requirements:
  • Proven professional competence of at least 4 years in environmental and/or nature conservation issues, as well as in general communication issues.
  • very good knowledge of the technical state of the art and of the in environmental and/or nature conservation context in countries participating in LIFE
  • Climate Change Mitigation experts must fulfill the following requirements:
  • A relevant educational background and a proven professional experience in Climate Change mitigation activities of at least 4 years;
  • Thorough knowledge of the Regulation concerning the Union policy and legislation on climate change mitigation, including mainstreaming across policy areas, in particular by developing, testing and demonstrating policy or management approaches, best practices and solutions for climate change mitigation.
  • Climate Change Adaptation experts must fulfill the following requirements:
  • A relevant educational background and a proven professional experience in Climate Change mitigation activities of at least 4 years;
  • Thorough knowledge of the Regulation concerning the Union policy and legislation on climate change adaptation, including green infrastructure, urban adaptation and ecosystem-based approaches to adaptation, and/or projects aiming to promote innovative adaptation technologies.
  • Climate Governance and Information experts must fulfill the following requirements:
  • Proven professional competence of at least 4 years in in climate change issues, as well as in general communication issues.
  • Very good knowledge of the technical state of the art and of the in climate context in countries participating in LIFE.
  • Nature and Biodiversity experts must fulfill the following requirements:
  • Relevant educational background and a proven professional experience in nature conservation of at least 4 years;
  • Thorough knowledge of the objectives of the Birds and Habitats Directives, particularly as regards the designation, the conservation objectives and the management of the NATURA 2000 network of sites.

All candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Good knowledge of the general EU environmental policies in the 28 EU Member States and at the level of European Union;
  • Fluent in English and in at least one of the other official EU languages.
  • Previous experience in assessing and/or managing projects will be considered as an asset.
